SGN (Southern Gas Networks) Present new shield

SGN (Southern Gas Networks) have very generously presented a specially commissioned oak shield to replace the original shield which was presented in 1925 by the Ryde Gaslight Company.  The shield was officially handed over to Barry Allen, Isle of Wight Music Dance and Drama Festival Chairman, by Phil Carter, SGN Business Performance Manager, at SGN’s Ryde depot.  In return the old Ryde Gasworks Company shield was given for display in the offices at the SGN Ryde depot.

This is a really magnificent oak shield well worth competing for so if you are in a junior church choir do think about entering.  The class will be held in All Saints’ Church, Ryde.

Barry Allen is seen holding the new SGN shield and Marilyn Hartley, a IWMDDF Fundraising and Marketing Officer, is holding the old Ryde Gaslight Company shield.
